“Sat-nav... has become a powerful everyday metaphor, positioned right on a fault line between our
mistrust of technology and a desire for magic and unsullied instinct”

From Edgelands, Paul Farley and Michael Symmons-Roberts

With 2014 the year in which the usage of sat-nav devices surpassed that of the road atlas, I began wondering just how far technology has traveled since tales of drivers following their sat-navs down coastal paths and across ploughed fields littered our newspapers.

I decided to place all faith (and control) in Google Maps, one of the UK's fastest growing sat-nav systems, and began entering the names of towns, photographing wherever Google decided I wanted to be. These are my final destinations.
